Ithaca’s Science Cabaret was inspired by the Cafe Scientifique movement, which started in Europe in the late 1990’s and has spread rapidly. Cafes Scientifiques are informal talks in bars, cafes and other public venues that give like-minded people a chance to discuss current and sometimes controversial topics in science. In Ithaca we meet one Tuesday a month. The Ithaca Science Cabaret is organized by local professors, graduate students and members of the Ithaca community.

Science Cabaret is open to anyone and everyone. While not all topics may be of interest to children, they are welcome to attend. Just bring your curiosity!

Long-time Science Cabaret curator Kitty Gifford welcomes opportunities to help your organization establish their own science cafe program. Kitty has a background in informal science communication and has presented at conferences on this topic as well as advising on individual programs. Please be in touch!
